Dhirra
Dhirra is the Gamilaraay word for ‘flash’ or ‘posh’. Before “the fire” Tibuc was home to 3 cabins each exhibiting varying degrees of technological advancement.
Yurrula (in the bush) was a one room mudbrick hut with cold water, outside fire for cooking, a bucket shower in a tree and a coolgardie fridge set right up on the northern border of the property. It now stands like a medieval ruin waiting a restoration project.
Gundhidjuul (little house) was an old asbestos hut with two bedrooms and a slow combustion heater, gas cooker and fridge and a bucket shower with black polypipe hot water.
So you get the picture that the third cabin, the one that survived the fire, having electricity and an inside flushing toilet deserved the title of ‘flash’.
Dhirra is a delightful cabin that sleeps 6.

There is a separate bedroom with a double bed, a lounge/dining/kitchen area with 4 bunk beds (two double bunks) and a separate bathroom. The cabin is fully self-contained. There is a barbeque outside.
The big advantage, to help you detox from your busy tech-driven lives or to reconnect with family, is that the cabin has no mobile reception available, nor does it have a television or wireless access. (If you need to use a phone or the internet you can do so at the main house 50 metres away.
It is a very quiet, restful place at the base of some very beautiful mountains. Animal and bird life abounds within the recovering, fire-affected landscape. You are likely to see kangaroos, wallaroos, wallabies, emus and a plethora of birds reptiles and frogs. To learn more about our place check out nature.
